BGC Beyond: Virtual Programs for Children

Published November 08, 2022 01:15

Virtual Programs are starting on November 14th!

We are very happy to bring virtual programming into your family's home! The BGCL staff team has been working hard to develop interactive and fun virtual program experiences.

Our virtual programs are designed to keep your child engaged for 60-90 minutes and introduce them to fun activities and friends their age.

Quick Facts

Your child will join a virtual group through Zoom with two live BGCL staff and other children their age in a cohort of no more than 15 kids. Your child will laugh, play, connect and learn with their cohort. BGCL staff have designed highly interactive and fun sessions tailored to your child’s age.

Virtual programs are a great way for your child to connect with their friends, make new friends, while being creative and learning new skills.

Ages: Varies per program (Grades 4 to 8); All genders are encouraged to participate!

Cost: Free

**Please note** Access to a computer (or a device that has a webcam and microphone) and internet connection is required. If assistance is needed with access to devices or the internet, please make sure to let the program staff know.

Equipment You'll Need

Your child(ren) will need access to a computer or tablet during the session. We will be using the platform Zoom. You will receive a link prior to the session, along with a password, through which you can join the meeting - you won't need to register for a Zoom account to participate.

For some activities, materials may be things you have at home. Generally plastic bags, towels, rolled up socks, paper, crayons and color pencils. Also recycled material like egg cartons, glass containers, etc. Prior to each week of program, a list will be sent out (if supplies are needed).

If there are special materials required for the activity, we will be delivering activity kits to your home.

Frequently Asked Questions

My child does not have a valid membership. Can they still be registered to participate?

Yes! Virtual Programs are free for Members and Visitors.

Can I register my child for more than one program?

Yes, you can register for more than one program as long spaces are available.

What if I have a younger/older child at home?

Siblings that don't yet meet the age limit can certainly be present and watch the session too. However, only the child registered will be able to actively take part in the session.

What does a typical program session look like?

Each program is unique with a different fun theme. Staff will create a specific program for the group of kids they are working with that meets their developmental needs and their unique interests.
