Koats for Kids

To be announced for October 2020

Donations of winter apparel no longer be accepted. Thank you for your support this year!

“Koats for Kids” is a community service of the Boys and Girls Club of London with area businesses and service clubs acting as partners in this very worthwhile undertaking – to ensure that every child is warm in the winter! Members of the Horton Street Seniors’ Centre, Club staff, students and community volunteers help distribute new or gently used coats and winter apparel in good condition of any size.

One coat will be given to each child/youth (0 to 18 years old) free of charge while quantities last. Proof of age will be required for each individual receiving a coat. Children and youth don't have to be present to receive a coat but proper identification is required. There is no registration for this program unless you require assistance for accessibility. Coats are not available for adults.

In the fall, we start our appeal to the public. We ask them to drop off the winter apparel at the Club or at any of participating drop-off locations consisting of local businesses, organizations, and schools throughout the city. Help us ensure every child and youth is warm for the winter!

Should you have any questions, please contact Christina Yung at 519-434-9115 ext. 241 or cyung@bgclondon.ca

If anyone would like to donate funds to the Koats for Kids campaign, all proceeds will be used to cover administrative costs such as printing for posters in various languages, and to purchase supplies such as coat hangers and new coats for next year's campaign.

Monetary donations can be made:

  • In person at the Boys and Girls Club of London (184 Horton Street). Tax receipts will be provided for donations of $20.00 or more.
  • Online - please make sure to select the "Koats for Kids" fund on our CanadaHelps page here - https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/4166. Tax receipts will be e-mailed to donors for any amount by CanadaHelps.
  • Over the phone with a credit card – call 519-434-9114 during business hours (Monday to Friday between 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.)

Twelve Days of Christmas

To be announced for 2020

During the 12 Days of Christmas event, over 1,200 traditional Christmas dinners with all the trimmings is served to children and youth. They also receive a small gift from the Boys and Girls Club of London. We invite you to contribute and become a sponsor for one of the twelve nights of holiday meals. Sponsorship includes the opportunity for you, your family, friends or your staff to volunteer together for one night and help us serve the meal and celebrate the festive season with the kids.

Should you have any questions about sponsorship, please contact Christina Yung at 519-434-9115 ext. 241 or cyung@bgclondon.ca.

For all other inquiries, please contact the Boys and Girls Club of London at 519-434-9114 or info@bgclondon.ca

Thank you to the students and faculty at Fanshawe College's Fashion Design program (Fashion Fit) for mending rips and tears, and replacing zippers on winter coats.

In 2018, over 15 bags of coats and snow pants were diverted from the landfill and given back to the Boys and Girls Club for Koats for Kids 2019.
